Registration
Registration is open to all students and staff of Rostock University, as well as all private citizens who reside in Germany.
Registration requirements are detailed below.
Applying for a library card
1. Students at Rostock University
Together with your enrolment documents you will receive your student card, which also acts as your library card. Your library user number is on the back of the card, below the bar code.
2. Rostock University Staff
University staff can obtain a library card at one of our circulation desks. You will need to bring:
- your German identity card, or
- your passport together with a German registration document showing your address, and
- the completed registration form (see below), and
- confirmation that you work at or are a member of Rostock University
3. Students of other universities
Students of other universities resident in the Federal Republic of Germany can obtain a libray card from a library information desk. You will need to bring:
- your German national identity card, or
- your electronic residence permit card, or
- your passport, together with a German registration document showing your address, and
- your Student ID card and
- the completed registration form (see below).
4. Private Citizens
German residents can obtain a libray card from one of our circulation desks. You will need to bring:
- your German national identity card, or
- your electronic residence permit card, or
- your passport, together with a German registration document showing your address, and
- the completed registration form (see below).
The minimum age for registration is 16.
Minors under the age of 18 residing in Germany can apply for a library card in person, if they provide the following documents:
- completed application form
- completed confirmation form signed by their custodian
- their identity card, residence permit (eAT) or passport, together with the registration certificate (Meldebestätigung) of their custodian

Logging into your user account
Once you have a library card (or student card), you can log into your user account. You will need your user number (below the bar code) and your chosen password.
